You can walk up onto the cliffs at Balmaqueen. There are lots of seabirds. Watching the gannets dive from a height of up to 30m, hitting the water at up to 100Km/h is incredible!
All the following places are within 20 minutes drive of the cottage:
The Quirang and the magnificent Trotternish Ridge.
The Museum of Island Life – very interesting insights to a life gone by.
Staffin Beach – photo taken around 11pm in May!
Fishing boat returns to the nearby port of Uig
(you can get the ferry to the Outer Hebrides from here as well as enjoy good food and drink).
Great look out at Rubha Hunish bothy – spot the whales and dolphins from here! It is a lovely walk to the bothy and back from the cottage. Take a picnic and make a day of it.
Sunsets over the sea and the Outer Isles at Duntulm.
And 30 minutes away is the amazing Old Man of Storr.
